Playing our part in helping to build a sustainable future

As a leading local business, we are committed to ethical and sustainable business practices. This means we take account of our social, economic and environmental impact.

Corporate social responsibility is good for the planet, our employees, customers and local communities. We are proud to continually invest in exploring and adopting innovative sustainable practices with a focus on sustainability across the company.

Here at Shorefield Holidays, we're committed to developing a culture of sustainability that also delivers economic benefits.

Our Commitment

To developing a culture of sustainability that also delivers economic benefits. We focus our activities on the following areas:

The environment & our impact on it

We are focused on improving our energy efficiency, managing our wastage responsibly and reducing our carbon footprint.

Community, volunteering & fundraising

As a family-run business, charity is at the heart of what we do and we are championing partnerships in our local community.

A focus on employee health and well-being

We know that our incredible staff are the reason behind our success, so we want them to be the number one priority.

Reducing the consumption of single-use plastics

We aim to reconnect people with their environment using education and promoting improved recycling across all our parks.

How we are delivering?

Charity & Fundraising

As a family-run business, charity is at the heart of what we do. We are proud to be able to help a range of fantastic local charities but we also believe that you can have fun whilst raising money too, which is why you'll regularly find us hosting cake sales or quiz nights to help raise money for these incredible causes. We also provide our employees with a day of paid leave each year for charitable or volunteer work.

Our chosen charity for this year is Oakhaven Hospice, who provide specialist palliative care and support to those facing life-limiting illness and their loved ones in both a home and hospice setting, just some of our efforts include:

2 days paid leave each year for our employees to spend on charitable or volunteer work

Annual Charity Quiz Nights

Coffee mornings & cake sales

Dress for purpose days

The Environment

We are focused on improving our energy efficiency, managing our wastage responsibly and reducing our carbon footprint.

We look to minimise our environmental impact wherever we can and are committed to minimising waste, reducing the consumption of single-use plastics, implementing good environmental practices and looking to prevent unnecessary pollution. We're trying to 'go green' where possible and are supporting The Great Big Green Week as part of our Green Initiatives.

We aim to reconnect people with their environment using education and promoting improved recycling across all our parks.

We're committed to conducting our activities and operations in line with current legislation and best environmental practice, seeking continual improvement and innovation within all our business activities. We've replaced a range of our company vehicles with electric versions, rather than diesel, as well as having received recognition for our commitment to conservation. Just some of our environmental efforts include:

23% of all park waste is recycled

Reduced plastic usage and plastic-free initiatives across our parks (yes, we've banned plastic straws!)

Biomass boiler used to heat our indoor swimming pool

Electric vehicles and charging points across our parks

Speed restricted and tracked company vehicles

GOLD accreditation in the David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme

Over 230 tonnes of glass recycled each year

Commitment to delivering paperless offices

Employee Health & Well-Being

We know that our incredible staff are the reason behind our success, so we want them to be the number one priority.

We're always listening to our employees, so after taking on board recent feedback we've introduced a range of fantastic new benefits for our staff. We want to show our appreciation for all the hard work each and every member of our team provides.

This is an ongoing focus for our company, as employee health and well-being forms one of our key aims for the near future. We know happy staff make for better guest experiences, but also how 'looking after number one' should be everyone's top priority.

In 2024 – we celebrated winning the British HR Awards, Employee Wellness Initiative of the Year award, as well as the Hospitality & Leisure Company of the Year award.

The British HR Awards is a nationally recognised campaign that celebrates organisations and individuals delivering a world-class people experience. This year, just over 300 entries were submitted from across the UK, making the competition tougher than ever. Finalists ranged from innovative start-ups and tech superstars to household names like Selfridges, Jaguar Land Rover, BrewDog, Revolution Bars, Away Resorts, and Mowgli Street Food — making our achievement all the more rewarding.

‘’Being recognised alongside such respected and diverse organisations highlights the strength of our culture, our commitment to people-first practices, and the impact we strive to make across the business every day. We are incredibly proud of the continued recognition Shorefield Holidays receives, and we remain committed to creating an environment where both our teams and our business can continue to thrive. Here's to celebrating more milestones in the years to come!’’ Sue Lilley HR Manager Shorefield Holidays
